Inside Sales Manager
In the more than 50 years that Midland Manufacturing has been in existence, we have developed a reputation as a solid, progressive, worldwide leader in the manufacturing of relief and angle valves and gauges for the railroad tank car, marine barge, and ISO storage container industries. Over the past several years, Midland has experienced significant growth due to increased need for our products both domestically and internationally.
Job Summary
We are currently seeking an Inside Sales Manager to join our rapidly growing business. This individual will manage the Inside Sales team to maintain customer satisfaction levels as well as improve department productivity by developing succession planning, implementing cross training on products & applications, and improving customer service for the Inside Sales department. Areas of responsibility include all Inside Sales activity and supervising reception. The Inside Sales manager is required to manage all order entry tasks, order expediting, export compliance, customer technical support and customer communications. The Inside Sales manager is also responsible for developing relationships with outside sales and ensuring good communications between Inside and Outside sales forces.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily entry of customer orders and order tracking. Implement improved order entry by utilizing Oracle and web-based systems. Enter customer contact information accurately and generate customer reports. Provide up to date product scheduling information to customers. Organize delivery and set accurate delivery expectations for customers.
- Complete individual account assignments by distributing all customer accounts amongst the team and establishing accountability for each representative. Channel clients to team representatives and supervise on client needs and issues. Develop back-up for representatives to ensure a consistent level of service.
- Ensure compliance with all export license and documentation requirements by submitting all export licenses, calculating export quotations, completing customer screens, providing export documents, completing required reporting to AES / Census Bureau, and maintaining required files.
- Lead team to become customer service driven and technically competent. Train and implement usage of new systems within the department. Eliminate excess paperwork and duplicate processes. Train team on department applications, company products and industry competition. Establish accountability plans for direct reports and review employees quarterly.
Education and Experience
- 5 to 10 years of outside or inside sales, customer service and sales management experience.
- Must have managed or supervised a sales or customer service team for 3 years or more.
- Bachelor’s Degree. Additional sales or management training and certification or MBA a plus.
- Experience in industrial sales preferred. Background in rail tank cars, industrial valves, fluid transfer equipment, and chemical applications beneficial.
- Candidate must be a strong leader, both self-motivated and able to motivate and develop others. Lead a fast-paced team to provide superior service and technical support to customers within a rapidly growing business. A self-starter who can help organize and streamline processes using new systems and best business practice to accommodate increased customer sales.
- Great verbal and written communications skills. Able to improve customer communications on order status, technical issues and delivery information. Provide excellent customer service to clients and strive to evaluate and improve customer satisfaction.
- Candidate must be a team player who has experience working in cross department teams.
Additional Skills and Expectations
- Minimal travel required. No more than 10%.
- 2nd language in Spanish, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese or Chinese a plus, but not required.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Able to navigate the internet
- Experience with Oracle beneficial, but not required.
